PS Ryde
Paddle Steam Ryde, later known as the Ryde Queen in a state of dilapidation - taken in about 1990.
Paddle Steamer Ryde - PS Ryde was built in 1937 by William Denny and Brothers, Clydeside. As a Southern Railways steamer she served as an Isle of Wight ferry and excursion vessel until 1969. Throughout the Second World War she served as a minesweeper in the Thames Estuary and Dover Straits. Returning to the Isle of Wight in 1971 she was converted to a hotel and later a nightclub (know renamed Ryde Queen). From 1989, when the nightclub closed she fell into disrepair and unfortunately her condition has deteriorated since.
